Chapter 10

“Ooh, look at this, Master!” Julia called out as she entered the hotel room. “This’ll do for the night.”

I had to admit, it was a nice room, but it wasn’t anything overly jaw-dropping. White walls, a red carpet, and a double bed with a silky, red cover which overlooked the double doors. There was a small, French balcony attached to the doors, which was only just wide enough for us to stand on, but it gave us a lovely view of the bustling New Orleans street below us.

There was a television perched on a set of dressers against the far-off wall, and to the left of that was an ensuite bathroom. We only had about nine hours before we had to wake up, but it was still a nice room for us to relax in.

Or… not relax, given the plans I had for my pastel goth.

“Imagine this view during Mardi Gras!” Julia called out from the balcony. “I’d catch so many beads from up here.”

“Isn’t Mardi Gras a religious holiday?” I asked with a smirk.

“Yeah, but it has good food.” Julia shrugged as she walked back into the room and closed the doors behind her. “So I can look past all that Lent shit when it comes to my stomach.”

“Fair enough,” I laughed. “Also, I’m sure there are tons of non-religious people who take part in Mardi Gras celebrations.”

“Exactly.” Julia smirked. “Now, speaking of good food, I don’t know about you, but I’m starving!”

I’d had a sandwich and a small bag of pretzels on the plane, but I hadn’t eaten anything since then, so it wasn’t until Julia mentioned it that I realized how hungry I was.

“A burger and fries sounds so good right now.” I nodded. “Does this place do room service?”

“Uh…” Julia frowned as she dashed over to the standard hotel phone which rested on a small side table. “Oh, yes, there’s a menu over here!”

“Excellent.” I grinned.

After a quick peruse of the limited menu, Julia and I decided what we were going to order. I offered to pay for it, but Julia said her parents had offered to pay for the entire trip, including all of our food and drinks.

I liked to pay my own way, and I didn’t want to take advantage of her parents’ good natures, but Julia was stubborn, and she refused to even discuss the options.

“Okay, fine,” I laughed. “I’m going to take a shower. Are you okay with ordering the food?”

“Of course.” She smiled. “I’ll tell the others, too, because I’m sure they’re just as hungry.”

Before I turned toward the bathroom, I leaned down and brushed a soft, sweet kiss against Julia’s full lips. It was so nice to just be ourselves for once, and to explore the connection between us which just seemed to have bloomed and blossomed between us.

And it was because of that, that I wasn’t going to go another day without telling everyone about us. It had been just over a week since we’d allowed our burning
